Tai Chi is a martial art that not only provides defense techniques, but also has positive effects on the mind and body. Through the study of Tai Chi, an internal style of martial arts, a student can learn to relax his/her body, reduce stress, control breathing, increase flexibility and strength. Tai Chi has a much slower pace, and is lower impact than most other martial arts, but can be applied in the same situations by simply performing the techniques at a more appropriate speed.
Daily practice of Tai Chi Chuan will:
• Promote a youthful appearance
• Increase agility in movement
• Promote tranquility of mind
• Promote better circulation
• Promote improved blood pressure
• Tone the muscles
• Increase concentration
• Improve coordination
• Improve balance
Senior citizens and those with limited range of motion enjoy a therapeutic effect through the practice of this art unmatched by any other form of exercise.
Mr. Jeff Zukor has been studying and practicing the long form Yang style of Tai Chi for over 25 years at Grandmaster’s Ownings Mills school. He teaches here on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings.
